7:30 p.m. — Saturday, February 15, 2020
Morrison High School Auditorium, Morrison, Illinois
It’s Beethoven’s 250th birthday year, and we feature his Wellington’s Victory and his spirited Symphony No. 7, along with our annual Young Artist soloist, flutist Kevin Lemus, who will be performing Francis Poulenc’s Sonata for Flute.
Wellington’s Victory is a unique piece that was very popular in Beethoven’s day. It’s a “battle painting”, putting the listener right in the middle of the Battle of Vitoria. A large number of brass and percussion are used to represent the French and the British, many will be local high school students in keeping with the Young Artist theme of this concert. It is not often performed today, so please join us for this experience.
